How I Teach Exponents
This is a 42 page Smartboard lesson on exponents. The lesson starts with the explanation of the base and the power. Next the process is explained. From there it goes to the explanation of -2 squared compared to (-2) squared. There is practice on simplifying both of those types first. Next the student has to write expressions using exponents. The computation game of Target 24 is an excellent game that generates 4 random numbers and you have to use all 4 numbers once and only once and multiply, divide, add, and/or subtract these number to make a math sentence that equals 24.
