Mentor text list with teaching points
I have created a list of mentor texts (some of my favourite picture books and literature) that I use regularly in Writer's Workshop to teach young authors about craft, process and genre writing techniques through bookmaking. Each mentor text has a list of possible teaching points or learning intentions that can be explored (e.g. illustration study learning intentions, how to write using dialogue, how to use onomatopoeia etc).

5th Grade Writing Rubrics (Common Core Aligned)
This resource includes two rubrics for each style of writing required of 5th graders according to the common core standards (informational, persuasive/opinion, narrative). One rubric is a 1-4 scale and the other is based on a percentage grade of up to 100. Note: this rubric does allow for students to score higher than 100 if maximum points are given in each of the areas. (This would show that students are capable of more than the standard requires for 5th grade.)
