"The Wedding of Q and U" (MP3 - song)

Q and U have tied the knot and they are rarely seen apart from one another. The Bonus Point Band thought it would be nice for them to have a special song for the renewing of their vows on a yearly basis. If the letter people are part of your classroom, you need this song to give them something to dance to. "The Wedding of Q and U" Be quiet...Shhhh! Be quiet...Shhhh! Be quiet...Shhhh! Be quiet...Shhhh! There's going to be a wedding! Welcome to the marriage of Miss Q and Mr. U. We hope there's

The Preconsonantal Nasal Song - A Spelling Song to Practice Nasal Sounds

What are nasal sounds? In one syllable words, they are an /m/ or /n/ before the final consonant. Beginning spellers have trouble using them because when they say them, they come through the nasal passage more than from the lips. Kids can practice saying them by lightly pressing on their nose when they say a word like "bump", or pinching their nose shut and trying to say "bump", which will sound more like "bup" without their nose. Nasal sounds are fun, and I hope this fun bluegrass style song

This song and follow up Zoo-phonics sounding out with my train song (soon to be uploaded) has taught my preschoolers all their sounds and how to sound out words within a few months. The reason I say each one 3 times is because that research has shown that anything repeated 3 t

All About That Base Word- A Spelling Parody for Syllable Juncture spellers

It's all about that base word! This song reviews that when you want to add a suffix (ed/ing) to a base word (run -> running) there are rules about what to do before adding it. Do I double the letter? Do I drop an E? Do I do nothing? This song teaches it all. It is a "parody" of course of Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" song, but the lyrics have been changed to teach spelling. The song is free and I will not profit from it. Enjoy! *thumbnail image from Clipartion.com

This song helps students practice their short vowel sounds and is a great reminder that all vowels make two dominant sounds, short and long. H - The Letter Buddy! A Spelling Song to Practice Consonant Diagraphs

This might be my favorite song that I sing to students. Years ago, a sweet little first grader told me that I was calling Consonant Diagraphs by the wrong name. She corrected me and told me they were called "Letter Buddies". I loved this and wrote a song that night for her and have been calling them that ever since! Thanks Brianna! I hope your students enjoy this song about how friendly the letter H truly is, helping lonely consonants everywhere create something new and exciting! * thum
