Once students have studied and applied the properties of exponents, this is a nice way to assess their understanding. Each student "designs" a problem that includes each of the seven required properties at least once. Then, the student simplifies the problem, identifying and applying the properties along the way. Each student submits a "project" which is scored on mathematical components as well as presentation components. Scoring rubric is included.
