Adapt a Novel to Film Project
This is a great way to analyze a book post-reading and can serve as a great assessment. Students are presented with descriptions of common film production jobs. They then pair or work individually on real production planning in relation to adapting the novel to the screen. This movie analysis requires students to view a film on their own time, then engage in a democratic group discussion to compare their annotations, produce a thesis or claim with support evidence, then construct a presentation of their work. I have included directions to pre-tape the presentation, but it can also be done in class. Great multi-day project that requires creativity, teamwork, deliberation, and quality analysis!
