Country and Culture Research Project
This is a project I use with my EL students to learn about their countries and cultures. The discussion questions help us to talk about what is important to us and then students have the opportunity to research the questions they have come up with. Then students write an essay and do a slideshow to present the information they have learned. My students love sharing their home country and culture with their classmates!

Hero Project
This is a fun and easy hero project that I did with my 3rd graders. Have them do the first page before they interview, then complete the next page with interviews . The empty boxes are for the students to draw the answers to the questions that they asked. For example, where it says Question 1, they will draw a picture of where their hero lived. It is a great home connection activity and the students loved every moment of it.

This RAFTT project allows students to take the role of a new immigrant that has just entered America. The audience is their family back home. They write about their impressions of the new country before leaving and a year later.They will also address possible hardships/success they are having in their new home.
This allows students to write about events from a different historical perspective.
