Primary Apple Graph with Apple Coloring Cards
Children taste & then color an apple depicting the color of their favorite: red (MacIntosh), dark red (Delicious), green or yellow. The teacher draw a simoliar graph on the whiteboard or posterboard and calls children up to tape their apples to the appropriate column, starting at the bottom axis and working up. Use these worksheets to investigate the weather. Track the daily temperature in your own city and report your findings with a bar graph. Next, compare the weather in different cities an report your findings with a Venn Diagram. Also, calculate range by finding the difference between the forecasted high and low temperatures each day. Be Thankful Vowel Graph/ Phonics
This is a great activity for your students. It integrates social students, math, reading, and phonics. With this activity the students will read a poem called, Be Thankful (I am not sure of the origin of the poem). They will highlight the vowels that they find and make a graph showing their findings. They will answer phonics questions beaded on the poem and math questions based on the graph. I have used this as a whole group activity, literacy/ math center and a review activity.
