This document contains a Guided Reading Journal for each chapter (Chapters 1-9) of Part 1: The Spark in Catching Fire. The journals contain Comprehension Questions, a short antonym/synonym exercise with five of the targeted vocabulary words, and a Like/Dislike section to encourage personal connections. Additionally, Chapters 1-6 contain a vocabulary worksheet that is either matching or fill-in-the-blank, using sentences taken directly from the novel.

Use this as a guided reading journal response. It has fin-in-the-blank vocabulary sentences pulled right from the chapter in the order in which they appear. You can fill them out together or independently. There is a Like/Dislike section to allow for culturally relevant personal responses. It ends with the comprehension questions that exist on the accompanying powerpoint.
