Get everyone involved with Poe's classic "The Raven." Build fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and analysis skills all in one short lesson. I use this lesson with my 11th grade American lit/intensive reading class; however, it would work just as well in any reading or literature class. I use this activity as a beginning of the year get-to-know you activity, however, this can be done at any time. This high engagement lesson has students watch two music videos, Brave by Sara Bareilles and Roar by Katy Perry, then compare and contrast words and phrases in lyric sheets, identify similarities, and write about differences. The Crucible Character Charts
We all know students learn in a variety of ways. That is why we follow Arthur Miller's The Crucible with the cinematic version on Netflix!
