Students will work in cooperative teams to think critically and describe the differences between chemical and physical changes and physical properties. The user is given a budget, items with prices and friends with dietary preferences and needs. After the user chooses meal plan, he or she must then answer comprehension and critical thinking questions about diet, budgeting, and personal choices.

"The Veldt" by Ray Bradbury Packet
This packet is designed to allow the teacher to facilitate, rather than lecture. It is mostly independent work, which makes it very easy for a substitute to distribute.
The packet includes the following: a quick-write prompt, pre-reading vocabulary, literary analysis and comprehension questions, key quotations, and an essay prompt. It will easily take three 48 minute periods, but may take more, depending on your approach.
