Students are required to find ten facts about Mount Everest. Extra credit offered to any facts which no other students 'discovers'.
This works well as a timed activity.
This isn't a scavenger hunt as such, but satisfies reading for information requirements, as students scan online encyclopedias, websites, blogs, etc.

Figuring Out Tone, Mood, and Character
This activity reviews tone and mood. The students will practice these skills by watching an original movie trailer, watching a remade movie trailer, and through excerpts from books/poems.
