Unit Plan - Health and Physical Education - Everybody Can Dance
Unit plan - 15 x 30 minute lessons - completed over 5 week period. Focuses on dance theory, incorporating Indigenous dances as well as dances from around the world. Students will understand the cultural influences of different dances around the world. Links to critical thinking - learning styles, higher order thinking and teaching strategies. This dance unit is aimed at K - 2 students and is based on the Australian classic 'Wombat Stew' by Marcia K Vaughan and Pamela Lofts. It fulfills the requirements for those using The Australian Curriculum - The Arts: Dance. It is designed to be taught by all teachers, even those less confidant in teaching Dance as the students make up the dance moves, not the teacher.
