My students who are deaf or hard of hearing along with being cognitively delayed struggled greatly with counting money. After months (literally) of drilling and drilling, I was almost ready to give up. Then I came up with a way to teach it using a coded hundred’s chart. After introducing the chart and how it worked they finally started to get it! The best part about it is, they went from using money manipulatives on the chart, to just looking at the chart with no manipulatives!
