At the beginning of each school year, I read "The Most Dangerous Game" with my students. My concluding essay for "The Most Dangerous Game" is a compare or contrast essay between General Zaroff and Sanger Rainsford. The students choose whether they have enough evidence to support how Zaroff and Rainsford are similar or different. Short Story Creative Project and Rubric
This creative project assignment was designed for a ninth grade English class, but could be adapted to a middle school ELA class as well. Students are required to choose an object of significance from a short story read and discussed in class (a list is provided on the assignment sheet, but can be edited). They must use basic materials at home to recreate the object, using textual evidence as a guide. Two different rubrics are included for grading flexibility.
