TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Over ten years as a high school English and Visual Arts teacher. I currently teach at an alternative school, but in the past I've also taught pre-IB and ELL courses.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Casual, informal, holistic, with references to pop culture. I believe that while learning the content is important, relationship building is just as vital to student success. I've taught many different students from high achieving IB students to at risk struggling students. All of them, regardless of their level, want to be engaged and taught by someone that cares about them. Also learning can be fun. I like making students laugh when I can and give them the sense that even if the material is difficult, we're going to master it together.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I'm a Canadian high school teacher who thinks learning can be fun, but serious at the same time. I've taught students of all high school grades and experience levels from International Baccalaureate students to students who don't fit in the traditional school model (but are still super cool cats.) Friendly feedback is always welcomed. That's how we all learn and improve. :)
