I have worked for two decades as an ELA, ELL, and humanities teacher in the U.S. and in five different countries. I am an experienced curriculum designer for UbD and the IB's Diploma Program. I was an instructional coach for three years and have written a best-selling book, The Best Class You Never Taught (ASCD 2017). I am passionate about teaching and writing great curriculum.
I believe that my number-one job as teacher is to develop the innate talent lying within every child. I don't believe in worksheets, lecture-based classrooms, or sarcasm. School should be a place for deep, intellectual challenge and fun -- they are not mutually exclusive qualities.
