Book Club is a great way for students to select readings of their own choice that have appeared on AP Literature essay prompts. I like to do these activities on Fridays as it gives students something to look forward to each week, and it gives students more time to read. If these lesson plans are completed on Fridays (or your preferred day of the week), students have six weeks to read whichever book they select. This product is a mini unit that culminates in students writing a creative story that shares the same theme as a theme found in either "Tell Tale Heart" or "Monkey's Paw." The creative story also focuses on mood and allusions.

Naturalism vs. Realism with Plath & Chopin
