Description
These two lessons introduce students to the literary movements of Realism and Naturalism through a prezi with the authors Sylvia Plath and Kate Chopin. While applying Reader-Response Theory to “Mushrooms” they have the opportunity to develop their own Science Poem which can be extended into its own lesson with the provided poetry rubric. Followed by “Desiree’s Baby”, students explore the difference between dramatic, situational, and verbal irony in this story with a surprising twist. Both lessons can be uploaded for distance learning if necessary.
