This is a student friendly powerpoint I created from the GMAS 3rd Grade Item & Scoring Sampler to help my students review and understand the 3 ELA written questions and 2 math written questions that appear on the Georgia Milestones test. This rubric was created to progress monitor English Language Learners' writing performance in between state language assessments. The rubric mirrors the format and requirements of the WIDA writing rubric for grades 1-12. It has been adjusted to meet first grade standards and is specific to retelling activities. Compare and Contrast Rubric and Scaffold for CMAS practice 4th grade
We developed this rubric and scaffold in order to help our student prepare for the CMAS standardized test. We scoured through the requirements and then used this rubric to communicate clearly with our students what is expected of them on a compare and contrast essay question. I am sure most standardized tests ask for similar expectation. We have also found that this helps students understand compare and contrast text structure.
