What educators are saying
My students used the rubric to help them during the test prep unit and writing extended responses. Thanks.
Description
This is a kid-friendly version of the 4 point rubric utilized to score extended responses on the Common Core New York State ELA test.
I used this to help students understand what is expected of them in their extended responses. I also use the rubric to conference with students about their writing!
One suggestion of how to use this rubric is to have the students rate their own writing on the rubric. Then, separately, you score their response using the rubric. In a conference, you can compare responses and have more deep, meaningful conversations about their writing - what they are doing well, and areas to focus on!
