Thematic Unit: Comparing and Contrasting using Folktales
This is a comprehensive unit where students will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of folktales by comparing/contrasting 3 different Anansi tales. Anansi stories are derived from West Africa and uses the character of a spider to teach lessons about not behaving poorly. In this unit, students will make comparisons, make predictions, complete 6 tasks (rubrics and answer keys included), and develop a deeper understanding of how culture/heritage influence how stories are told.
