This is a lesson powerpoint correlating with Georgia Performance Standards for 5th Grade Science: S5L2. It is a 15 slide powerpoint including kid-friendly definitions of the following genetics terms: heredity, genes, genetics, chromosomes, DNA, traits, inherited traits and learned behaviors. The powerpoint includes animation, a link to a related brainpop video and a few star wars characters. This lesson begins by introducing the big bang theory and going over supporting evidence. After explaining cosmic radiation it goes into how our own solar system formed from a solar nebula. It shows them what King Tut REALLY looked like.
After studying King Tut and Egyptian art history, I show them this - it's really inspiring because it shows how science + art can work together.
