Equivalent Fractions Sugar Cookie-Baking for Valentine's Day!
This activity requires students to work in teams to convert simple fractions so that they can determine the recipe for sugar cookies. Pizza Fractions
This product can be used to support the understanding that fractions are equal parts of a whole. Students may plan a pizza with fractional units for each topping. In my classroom, I bring in a toaster oven to cook each students pizza to create real life connections. I also play an interview that a student completed with a pizza restaurant owner to pull in mass, measuring tools, shapes, and career connections to the activity.
