What is that smell? Testing students' sense of smell
Use this science activity for students to discover their sense of smell! Place a cotton ball into five different small tupperware containers. Choose four different strong smelling liquids, such as vinegar, lemon juice, vanilla, peppermint, etc, and pour a little bit onto each cotton ball. Number the containers and have students guess the smell using this worksheet. A great way to make their sense of smell come alive!

This is a follow exercise for correlating gospel and slave narrative songs to the "The Hanging Tree" song from the hit movie "Mockingjay". To pre-teach this worksheet, play a sample or two of gospel music like "Roll Jordan Roll" or "Wade into the Water".
