This Smartboard presentation gives a brief background of Hiroshima, and what the 1000 paper cranes are about. This Smart Board presentation walks the teacher and students through an excellent hands-on activity, using goldfish crackers and post-it notes, to work on discovering patterns. It also allows the teacher to show there are multiple ways to solve a problem as some kids will draw pictures, some will make charts, and some will find a math problems. Feelings Scenarios Whack a Mole! Throw a ball at your smartboard!
How cool!? Throwing a koosh ball at the smartboard! My kids LOVE it! When the different scenarios came up I had kids share ideas (or made a game of it, having them write down answers as a group) about each situation. They stated the way it would make them feel and different options about how to handle it. Because this lesson is centered around emotions, there may be many different ideas, feelings, and answers. Great for the first week of school!
