Description
This SmartBoard file is a great way to help students through Project 3 in the second grade Everyday Math series, Chinese Calendars. The file contains slides with:
- the objective
- the legend of the chinese zodiac (as explained by Everyday Math)
- a list of the Chinese animals and the cycle they follow, including their Chinese names
- Math Masters pages 410 and 411 with guiding discussion questions
- links to a Chinese Zodiac for Kids site and National Geographic Kids' Chinese Horoscopes site
This is a fun project to complete with the kids around Chinese New Year, which is at the beginning of February, or around our New Year's celebration in January. It's also a great way to include any Chinese students who may be in your class, or as part of a unit on different cultures.
