This is a very powerful, intense, thought-provoking article about the history of the Tainos and their interaction with Columbus. It is a 4-page article and it includes a gate annotation guide to go with it. Recommended for older grades, I use this with 8th graders. If you use it with younger grades the vocabulary and details would have to be modified. I focus on the strength and legacy of the Taino people over the horrible actions of Columbus.
