Science Lab Safety Rules/Contract & Safety Poster Assignment
This is an easy lab safety contract that puts the responsibility back on the students rather than on you as the teacher. The contract is written in kid-friendly terms and can easily be explained in one class period. Included is an EDITABLE cell phone policy. Your student and their parents/guardians will sign it. It includes proper times when students can be on their phones/devices and when they cannot. It also lays out detailed consequences. If you have devices in your classroom that students can use like Chrome books or iPads, you can add that in to the policy. Intro To Chemistry: The Dihydrogen Monoxide Assignment
Prank your students with this sensationalized assignment about a "dangerous substance." Students read about the substance, complete a worksheet about its properties and then convince family members to support a ban on the substance. What is the substance? H2O!
Assignment comes with a school letterhead notice to send home with students, urging them that the science department needs them to learn about a chemical substance.

Student Conference Reflection
