This unit is a mini-debate.It starts off exploring Ethos, Pathos, and Logos (slideshow). It moves on to fallacies - appeal to tradition, appeal to popularity, appeal to fear etc. Students take notes (I use www.coggle.it)But who has time to conduct a 'formal' debate in class. ie. complete with opening statements, affirmations and responses, multiple rebuttals, closing arguments, judges deliberations, etc. Instead, this lesson is a "Speech Debate," a stripped-down version of a debate.
