Ask your students to pull their free choice books and check that they are reading fluently, accurately and with understanding. This running record form can cover any grade level for about any 100 words passage. I ask my students to start reading wherever they are in the book. I use these book labels with Beth Newingham's bin labels. I found that my first graders had a hard time returning books to the correct bin. I printed these labels on Avery return address 5140 labels and placed them on the backs of each book. They made my life easier and I hope they help you too!
