Through the use of music, students will learn many literary terms and apply them to lyrics and poetry. This is a creative, hands-on projects that can be used as a stand-alone unit, in conjunction with a poetry unit, or as a review unit at the end of the year. Everyone knows the speech, but most students have never HEARD or SEEN Martin Luther King Jr. give his full speech. Let your classroom be their first time!Students will follow along with the speech (video link provided) and take notes on the provided handout as they listen.  Perfect activity to send your students into the three-day weekend or use as part of Civil Rights Movement unit!
