They reflect on all question and essay types. They list their strengths and weaknesses based on the scores and feedback they got. I then have a conference with them and together, we come up with things they can do differently for the next semester. Suggestions are tutoring or lists of other resources and study materials. FL NGSSS US History Benchmark Student Data Tracker for EOC

Florida is one of the states with an end-of-course exam in U.S. history. This exam accounts for 30% of each student's final grade in the course.Given the breadth of the standards and the needs of my students (the majority of them are not reading at grade-level, even my honors students), I racked my brain for a way to keep students abreast of their progress on the benchmarks. I also wanted to give my students a sense of what the most important information was to focus on, based on prior adminis

Glory Parent Permission Letter

I showed this film during every single one of my U.S. Civil War units (8th and/or 11th grades). It is rated R, but it is a mild R rating; if it were made today, I believe it would receive a PG-13 rating. Nonetheless, a parent permission letter was required. In 18 years of teaching, I never received a letter back through which the parent/guardian had not agreed for the student to watch it. It's a classic!
