Author's Purpose Printable Worksheet Cut and Sort
Students read the sentences, cut them out and glue them into the correct column. This is a great partner activity if author's purpose is a fairly new idea for students. It can be used as an assessment if students have a solid understanding of author's purpose. If students are working with partners or table groups, it works well to tell them that they must agree before gluing. That rule may generate some discussion. Halloween Wordsearch and Maze fun Halloween Fall activity
This is a two-side Halloween-themed wordsearch and maze. This is geared towards grades 1-6. The wordsearch has cute "spooky" Halloween images. The maze also has Halloween images and involves getting a group of Trick or Treaters to a bowl full of candy. This is a great activity for when you're going to be absent, for when kids finish work early, or for a fun Halloween set of puzzles.

Simile and Metaphor Worksheet Practice
This worksheet provides 10 metaphors/similes that allow students to practice their learning. Pictures of example next to each. They must identify if the sentence uses a simile or metaphor and then explain what that use of figurative language is trying to communicate.
