This file contains two posters. I use this when I teach students how to identify themes in fiction. The posters contain about twenty possible themes that might be found in passages and books. I use a cupcake analogy to teach the concept of theme. I choose the analogy of theme-filled cupcakes because it is such a great visualization that students can associate with the definition of theme. I am obsessed with having anchor charts hanging in my classroom! I love the way they look and I also love how much they help the students throughout the year! One problem though..I am not an artist. RACE Bookmark (RACE Unit)- CCSS Text Dependent/ Citing Evidence- Open Response
RACE is a strategy used to help students organize their thinking when writing a text dependent, open response answer. I have used this strategy in my class for over three years in grades second through fourth and saw a lot of improvement in my students’ mastery of writing open response answers.
