Visual Problem Solving For Struggling Readers: 3rd - 5th grade

This is an experiment for a third grade teacher who is struggling to engage two dyslexic students in the process of answering mathematical story problems. She showed me a set of story problems and described how a teacher had to sit next to the students and read the problems to the students, who then solved them.

Interactive Notebook Fast Food Challenge - Nutrition / Health / Math
The Fast Food Challenge is to have students create an unhealthy fast food meal and then make it healthy. I have my students use the internet to find fast food menus of their favorite places. You could also go and request menus from the restaurants. This activity can take from 2 days to a week depending if you have the students work alone, in partners or groups.
