Students are guided through a phone comparison. Then students will research plans and compare them in groups. This activity also includes 4 different homework problems similar to the phone comparison but related to other fields.
This project can be performed in any class studying solving systems of equations.
In the past, I have had the groups present their findings on a third day.

This is a step-by-step derivation of the famous Dirac equation. In particle physics, the Dirac equation is a relativistic wave equation derived by British physicist Paul Dirac in 1928. During the recent swine flu outbreak, I had my Algebra I students analyze the growth rate of the outbreak.
This activity asks you to compute linear regression, quadratic regression, and exponential regression using data from the CDC.
The students then draw conclusions as to which model matches best. I would love to hear any feedback you might have.
