These mats were created especially for a 100th Day celebration! Students sort fruit loop cereal by color on the first mat. Students then transfer the fruit loops onto the second mat*, counting to 100, but in color-coded groups of 10. The fruit loops can then be strung onto a necklace** to wear and display their knowledge of 100 and counting by tens! Print the mats on cardstock and laminate to ensure durability. This is a great project idea to end a geometry unit. There are two parts that can easily be adapted for different grade levels. In the first part, students choose a shape, label it, and find the area and perimeter. For the second part, students use tangram pieces to create their own sculpture and mathematically describe it.
