DBQ Assignment Using Duble's Phantoms in the Snow
This is a Historical Fiction DBQ or evidence based writing assignment using the book Phantoms in the Snow by Kathleen Benner Duble. The document includes both the close reading questions and the essay prompt. It does not include the text. The questions are intended to go with the first two chapters and the first four paragraphs of the third chapter. As part of the writing process, I give my students an editing checklist to help them make sure that they have checked for all major mistakes. This is the version I used for my ninth graders after they read Monster by Walter Dean Myers. We also used it in ninth grade for Of Mice and Men, Lupita Manana and Twelve Angry Men.
