Murder Mystery Puzzle (Law of Syllogism and Detachment)

Help students improve their logic skills with these murder mystery puzzles. You get 5 different puzzles. Each person was questioned and give 3 statements. Only the murderer lies. Improve student's critical thinking while helping them to apply the Law of Syllogism and the Law of Detachment to combine statements. As a hint of where to start, look for statements that contradict! Answers are included!! Instructions: Someone was murdered! Use the laws of logic to determine who was the murderer. All

This EIGHT PROJECT BUNDLE (!!!!!) will keep your Algebra 1, Geometry, or Algebra 2 students busy for the last 1 - 3 weeks of school doing either independent or group projects, with or without access to technology. Projects include rubrics and grading criteria for the most part, although I sometimes just grade this with a daily participation grade rather than for correctness. Project topics include: - Area and Perimeter -- Design Your Own Playground! - Linear Modeling -- Human Height and Bone Le

Easy Crumpled Paper Stained Glass Abstract Art

This easy, fun project is great for all ages. This project can also be very addictive and kids LOVE creating them!! You get a simple and easy to follow word document with visual and descriptive steps (5 total) to create these colorful abstract works that look like stained glass. Reprint the handout to give to students to follow or use is as a visual guide for your lesson. This lesson is easily adaptable to any materials. Students can also mix and match materials to create unique abstract works.

This worksheet is designed to replace a lecture on calculating geometric probability. I start out class with a 15-minute "mini-lesson," giving my students some basic examples of what today's lesson will be about. Once the mini-lesson is over, I have them get to work within their groups on this worksheet. I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions. The file includes spiral review problems. This worksheet is intend

My geometry students need practice with proving triangles congruent using SSS, SAS, ASA, HL, SAA, and they also need practice applying these congruence shortcuts to figures in which the parts don't necessarily "line up," or in figures requiring them to use vertical angles are the reflexive property of congruence. The preview file is a pdf so you may see what it looks like; the product file is a word document, which you may edit for your students. The worksheet includes "spiral review" problems

A fun way for students to discuss triangle congruency! Students are tasked with folding an origami ornament to hang on our "Geometree". When presenting this mini project, you can discuss how precision and congruence are a huge part of origami and that students should be on the look out for the content discussed with regard to congruence in the course such as SAS, SSS, etc, reflexive property, angle and segment bisectors and more. After folding, students will present their ornament and discus

Geometry students often like to "play" with their compass and straightedge when they first use them: this activity is exactly what I use to get some mileage out of this urge to play: by just repeatedly drawing full circles (as opposed to arcs), students can generate midpoints, perpendicular lines, parallel lines, regular triangles, regular hexagons, and sixty and thirty degree angles. The product preview is a PDF, but the product file is a word file, which you may edit for your students. Immed

Geometry STEM Project. -Plan a trip around the United States calculating distance and midpoint using the appropriate formulas. Calculate the midpoint and then find a city that is close to that point on the map. Research and find at least 5 fun facts about each city as well as places to visit. -Make a presentation (google slides, powerpoint, prezi, canva, video, etc) to present your travels to the class(or your teacher) so they can learn about the cities you visited. The problems and activities within this document are designed to assist students in achieving the following standards: G.SRT.6 & G.SRT.8 as well as the standards for mathematics practice and the literacy standards. They are also designed to help the teacher assess the students’ abilities when it comes to working with the ideas within the standards. This document contains the following: - project directions - scoring rubric - C.S.I. Application - "Help the Crime Scene Investigators" section

I like to call this activity Putt-Putt-Geometry. It is 9 glorious holes of trigonometry application! This works great as a Trig unit project, end of year project, or test review (maybe 1 or 2 holes for review). The students can work in groups, pairs, or individuals. If your students are not proficient with Trig, or you have not covered it yet, each hole can be done using the Pythagorean Theorem instead - simply tweak the directions a bit. I hope your students enjoy this as much as mine do!

Trigonometry Project

Students use a picture of themselves and create a trigonometry story, i.e. a word problem that pertains to their particular picture. This is a great application of SOH CAH TOA! I have included a sample of what the project could look like. The sample one isn't typed but it gives the overall objective of the project. Students can really let their creativity shine!

Designed to be used as a performance task that is perfect after a unit involving Inductive and Deductive Reasoning. This task allows students to use their reasoning skills to determine who the killer is, what murder weapon was used, which clue was left behind by each suspect and what time the murder takes place. It comes with a chart designed to help the student work on his/her organizational ski

Station 1: The mirror method Students use a mirror to create similar triangles and measure the height of a tall object. Station 2: The clinometer method Students use a clinometer and tangent to solve for the height of a tall object. Directions to make a quick, simple, and cheap clinometer are included. Station 3: T

In the past, when I taught students the properties of trapezoids and kites, I always felt that I was telling students things they could see and measure, and then when the assessment rolled around, I found out that I would have been better off having the students simply directly measure the sides, angles, diagonals, and so forth of these shapes and discover the properties for themselves. This worksheet is the finished product of that endeavor. I treat this as a cooperative learning/discovery ac
