CSI:Spanish Class "Checking Alibis" House and Family Logic Puzzle
This lesson activity is an engaging way to get students reading in Spanish, thinking logically, and working cooperatively.

After presenting and explaining the idea of cognates to my students, it's now time to read! Here are two quick cognate heavy paragraphs that I give to my Spanish 1 students within the first couple days of class.
Students are prompted to underline all words they do not know and then guess using the context clues that surround those words.

Spanish Pronunciation Practice
This is a simple list of Spanish words that I use to practice Spanish pronunciation. Cognates and high frequency words give students confidence. I like to use this as a bell ringer partner practice, repeat and recall for the last 2-3 minutes of class, or review for vowel sounds at the beginning of the year for returning students.
