Overview: This is a sample from my poetry unit for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade in which students will analyze poems, determine the speaker of a poem and their point of view based on textual evidence, identify similes and metaphors and determine their meanings, make inferences based on text clues and background knowledge, and determine the theme/main idea of a poem based on textual evidence.
