Authored Story: Liquid Measure- gallon, quart, pint, cup/DISTANCE LEARNING

Today I happily share a power point (written in rhyme) that visually teaches the concept of how the units of liquid measure relate to one another. * Beginning with one gallon, four quarts are assembled within the gallon. * Following the initial visual, two pints are assembled within each quart. * Next, two cups are placed within each pint, demonstrating that one gallon can be four quarts, eight pints, and/or sixteen cups, all being equal quantities. * The presentation

How to find the volume of a solid using the liquid displacement method

Created by

This is a short, animated, PowerPoint slide show, demonstrating the method used to find the volume of an irregular solid (a swimmer doll) using liquid displacement. The original volume of water in the graduated cylinder is measured, the swimmer races over to the graduated cylinder and jumps into the water, the water level rises, and the new volume of the water is measured. The subtraction of the two numbers is shown, along with the results.Note - It is also part of my bundled packages of lesson

GEOMETRY PP: Medians, Altitudes, and Perpendicular Bisectors/DISTANCE LEARNING

Students will learn about using the properties of Medians and Altitudes in this lesson. * Properties of perpendicular bisectors are also addressed. * Certainly, they will be intrigued by how medians and Centroids of a triangle are related, and how altitudes and ortho-centers of a triangle are related. * They will learn that centroids occur only inside of a triangle, and they will also become familiar with the differing places ortho-centers will occur when working with acute,

This Common Core geometry lesson covers how to construct triangles using a ruler, protractor, and compass. The lesson includes research-based strategies and strategic questions that prepare students for Common Core assessments. In this lesson, the teacher constructs the triangle with the given conditions, labeling the sides and angles. Then, students do a different construction of the same triangle, and check it by measuring the three side lengths and angles. An animated demonstration is provide

Math Lab: The US Flag, some flag Trivia, and some fun math/DISTANCE LEARNING

I present you with a power point lesson that inter-twines some of the history of the American Flag with some basic mathematics. * The mathematics include area calculations, various area comparisons, converting ratios to decimals and to percents, proportions, and measurement conversions. * The presentation is informative and a great lesson for ratio, percentages, and conversion reinforcement. * This power point is appropriate for any patriotic celebration including * Martin Luther King Jr.
