UIL Elementary Number Sense practice book part 2
These are practice lessons I have put together to work with 4th and 5th graders on the second section of the Number Sense test (questions 20-40) for UIL.

Finding Percents Mentally (Guided Notes)
This lesson is meant to be used as guided notes for a whole class. Students start off by learning how to find 10% of a number, and they use this to find 20%, 30%, 40%, and other multiples of 10%. After noticing that 50% is half of a number and 25% is a fourth, they then learn how to find 5% of a number. I have created two multiple choice multiplication word problems tests. Each test has ten questions. The rigor is much higher to incorporate the new changes in the National Standards. It matches the VA 3rd grade SOL 3.5 multiplication facts. Ideally each test could be printed front to back to have 1 sheet per test. Students will need to know the vocabulary word product. They will also use word problem skills to determine that multiplication is needed.
