I call this the "How to - When to." Print it double sided. You can decide whether to give your students the completed version or to give them the blank version for note-taking. This organizer can be filled in by chunks. Students will tire out if they are asked to fill in the entire organizer all at once. It can also be added to an interactive notebook. On one side, common word problem signals are compared. For instance, the phrase "How many times" is actually a common signal for a situation that

KUKU Mastering Multiplication Facts

"Kuku" (nine-nine) is a Japanese method of memorizing multiplication tables by using a rhythmic chant. Students in Japan start memorizing their multiplication facts beginning with the 5′s & 2′s because they are easiest to understand, followed by 3′s & 4′s, 6′s & 7′s, 8′s & 9′s, and finally 1′s. Japanese Kuku does not go higher than the 9′s. However, students can easily continue this same rhythmic chant pattern to continue memorizing up to 12×12 or 15x15.

This is my first ever TPT upload! :) This is a little page I put together for the math teachers at my school. We use them on the corner of EVERY student's desk, so that those who need them, do not feel singled out. Math facts are so important, but having small aids like this in the classroom can really speed up how fast your students are able to work on higher level thinking problems. Cheers!
