I use these rubrics in my classroom. I keep them in Word format because I like to modify them a bit based on the assignment/prompt. Sometimes I use a word count, other times page count. If I'm working on something like "voice" I emphasize that more on the rubric. If my recent lesson is on subordinating conjunctions, I emphasize that. This document is designed to help students gather notes to prepare for a class debate. It includes boxes for students to write three claims, two pieces of evidence for those claims, and a warrant (proving how the evidence supports the claim).
On the back, the students think about the counterclaims for their claims and write them down. Then they find research to go against their opponents counterclaims.
