Description

This is the short story "Burrito Man" which was taken from the Novel, "Us in Progress: Short Stories About Young Latinos" by Lulu Delacre.

The story is about a young girl (13 or so) who goes to work with her father who is a food cart vendor. She's embarrassed by him because of his job, but learns throughout the day how hard he works.

This includes a Word Document with the story that has an annotation column, with some questions throughout.

Five or so comprehension questions at the end and three scaffolded graphic organizers for a CER paragraph that identifies the theme of the story.

I included it as a word document so you can adjust the questions and graphic organizer as necessary for your classroom and students.

I've used it for 6th grade. I would be ideal for end of the year 5th- 7th. 8th grade may find it too easy.
