Created by
Arik Durfee
An engaging, Common-Core-based activity to help students analyze the structure of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. I always like doing a Civil Rights Movement-based unit during January to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In "Dissecting the Dream," students work in groups to divide "I Have a Dream" into thematic sections. Then they discuss and analyze the purpose, funtion, and effectiveness of each section of the speech. Each student in the group has a clearly defined rol

This pocket visual schedule is a great visual support tool for helping children to adults navigate their day.In the classroom, we have a large full-day schedule. But when you're on the go, you do need an individual, portable visual schedule for the student to easily reference and manipulate. Having a visual schedule like this can help with individuals who need less steps presented to them at a time.
