I created this Web Quest to introduce my students to the Stamp Act. The Web Quest includes 1 video link with questions, 2 websites with questions, a link to an online quiz that follows one of the websites, and an optional essay that can be completed using the information found in the Web Quest. This is a common core module that was designed for an 8th grade classroom; however, these texts could be used together for various grade levels. The module is designed around using a nonfiction text, Are We Alone? Scientists Search for Life in Space by Gloria Skurzynski. Orwell and Argument Readings with Graphic Organizer
The little freebie includes about a page and a half of text with a graphic organizer to check for understanding of the reading. It could work for anyone using one of George Orwell's works, introducing argumentative writing or as a substitute lesson. There is also a bonus reading and graphic organizer introducing verbal irony and allusion. It is based off of CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.8.1, which is to cite the meaning of the text.
