These vocabulary cards are used in my ecosystem unit. The words include ecosystem, habitat, interdependence, camouflage, prey, predator, biotic factors, abiotic factors, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, producer, consumer, decomposer, endangered, extinct, and mimicry. Each card contains a definition and a picture. Quiet Please! A Noise Pollution Activity
Students conduct an activity to determine the most effective way to control noise using shoe boxes and sound-absorbing materials. In groups, students will use one of 8 materials assigned by the teacher to sound-proof the inside of a shoebox. They will place a timer inside the box and test how far away the ringing can be heard, record the results, and then graph the data gathered.

This is a worksheet that works well with weather.com because it is similar to the format on that website. It has sections for weather "right now", "today" and "tonight" along with "tomorrow's weather" and a section that asks what you should wear tomorrow. This is great for elementary as well as middle and high school special education. I use it for my students with moderate/severe autism. The visuals are great!

December/Christmas/Winter Journal Writing Prompt Booklet
This is a 7 page booklet that features two journal entries on each page. The first is a title page, so there are 12 writing prompts. Each page has several lines for a student response, as well as a box to draw a picture of the journal entries.
These half sheets are to be cut out and given to students one at a time. At the end of the month, just before break, I like to punch holes and bind the journals for students to keep as a momento.

This unit was created using the Georgia Standards. There are also many reading comprehension sheets that can be assessed as a reading and social studies grade. The Unit includes a study guide that I printed out and put into folders to use as a resource throughout the study. This is also used for the research conducted during the unit study.
