Test Taking Strategies / Follow Directions Prank/Fake Quiz
This quiz is a fun and funny way to get students to realize they need to pay attention to directions.
There is a list of numerous steps to complete, which can actually be fun for students. HOWEVER, the first step says to "read all directions before continuing" and the last step says "only do..." so most students mess this up and do all the steps as they go along. Then you can give them the lesson at the end :)

Wants vs. Needs
This is a great activity to introduce and practice the idea of wants versus needs. There are large pictures that you can print and use in either a large group or small group and try to sort them. This generates great discussions! Then there is a smaller version(2 pages) to print that you can have the kids do on their own (cut and glue and sort) to assess their knowledge. I use it around Thanksgiving time when we talk about things we are thankful for.
